One-to-one coaching
Each working relationship is
uniquely designed around the questions that you bring, your specific situation and needs, your
learning
style, and the level of commitment you can make. Some
generic topics and interests are described below. If you feel that you have questions
that do not neatly fit any category, but wonder whether I might be able
to help anyway, then please do get in touch.
Presentation skillsYou can contact me on 01865-716571 or alexander@AuthenticVoice.co.uk For keynotes, conferences, academic environments, job interviews,
sales presentations, pitching to funders and venture capitalists Giving
presentations can be integral to our working lives. We have to be able
to communicate sometimes complex topics concisely to diverse audiences,
and be engaging, informative and persuasive. When we stand in front of others, we can become acutely aware of being ambassadors for our organisation, our team, our cause, and ourselves, and we want to leave our audiences with a favourable impression. In terms of personal impact on ourselves, giving presentations can also play a key role in career development,
employability and job security: enhancing our visibility and
credibility, extending professional networks, capturing the attention
of mentors and future collaborators, and building a track record and
reputation.

A presentation is an auditory and visual – and,
arguably, emotional - medium that in the audience impacts centres in
the brain different from those reached by the written word. Knowing a
topic does not necessarily mean you can reach your audience when
speaking, and being confident in front of people does not guarantee
that you will make your presentation clear, relevant or interesting.
Our coaching sessions will help you:
After
our session, I felt 100% better. The presentation went very well, and I
even got a clap at the end of it. I've also had a number of
congratulations since. It just shows what can be done if the pupil
finds the right teacher at the right time! The two most helpful tips
were thorough preparation of the beginning and end of the talk, and
looking for my inspiration. Department Head, PPCUK
How we communicate can make or break a working relationship, a team, an organisation - or our career. It has been said that 'everything is communication'. What we don't say can be as important as what we do say, or how we say it. What we do - and don't do - also gives out powerful messages about us, what we mean, what we stand for. We communicate in all directions, with peers, with people above and below us in the organisation, as well as with people outside it. Communication happens informally and formally; in the boardroom; leading or participating in meetings; when managing, receiving or giving coaching, mentoring or supervision; writing reports, sending emails; leading new initiatives; networking; interviews; handling conflict and difficult situations; bearing good or bad news; at the coffee machine. We need to know how to talk so people will listen, and listen so people will talk. It is not an exact science, and is perhaps more of an art. Our coaching sessions will help you:
What do you do? Or ...
Finding the best words to describe what you offer For organsiations, organisational leaders, free lance practitioners and sole traders Do people understand what you do? If you had only 30 seconds, or better still, 20 or only 10 seconds,
could you describe your work, or your message in a way that people get
it, are even intrigued, inspired and want to know more? Perhaps just as
importantly, do you know, in a nutshell, what you do or what you want to do? If you answer to any one of these questions is ‘no’, then the
chances are that you are not reaching the people you want to reach, you
are not doing what you were born to do, or you are not earning what you
could earn – or all three of these!
Authentic Voice has helped organisations such as Age Concern (Stockport), MMR Market Research, and Happy2Learn, to define and communicate initiatives and corporate messages, and improve communication both within their organisation and beyond it. Authentic Voice coaching has also helped numerous individuals identify core skills and clarify personal objectives, and name precisely what they do and how it specifically helps other people. This has led to mentoring people through business start-ups to create clear, attractive messages to potential customers and funders, helping people craft their promotional and marketing strategy, including wordings on proposals and websites, as well as discovering the best ways to make their skills available to others. Alexander
definitely walks the talk. I really appreciated his advice on how to
rework my business. He was true to my message and helped me to convey
what Happy2Learn is all about with a clarity and focus that displays
his depth of understanding. If he can do this for a one-person business
what could he achieve in bringing together the authentic voice of a
dynamic team? Holding up the mirror to what you do and reflecting it
back is the sign of an inspiring coach. Jeni Hooper, Director, Happy2Learn
Thank you for a generous and characteristically warm response. Coming on top of a truly mind-altering meeting, it reminded me of your Quality. Thank you for that meeting. Suddenly I realise that I have felt lonely for some time. I have worked at giving the market what I thought the market wanted. And all the time I kept the best of myself in reserve, rather than reveal the deepest and most passionate feelings I have about my work. It was a revelation that I could talk about my work in the way we did. I felt seen and understood. It was like water in a desert. Thank you, Alexander. Director of a coaching business (Anonymous) Contact me on 01865-716571 or alexander@AuthenticVoice.co.uk (back to top) Personal development Some people come to this work because they feel there is some problem with their voice or how they use it. Voice problems, strain or loss can be highly distressing and disorienting to the sufferer, affecting confidence, sense of identity, relationships, work, and sometimes livelihood. Physical re-education in voice use and care can help you make quick improvements. At the same time, a voice problem can be indicative of a more systemic emotional challenge or personal issue, e.g. significant stress due to a person feeling caught in a difficult life/work situation or even trauma that they have been unable to resolve. Authentic Voice provides a meaningful holistic response to these issues. To work on voice and communication is simultaneously to work on the self, and the two mutually support each other. Holistic voicework can provide a medium for deep self-exploration and personal transformation - mixing bodywork, breathwork, talking through issues, emotional processing, voicing, movement, dream work and meditative techniques. I
do so appreciate you for working with me so well, I always felt that
you were totally there for me and powerful enough to hold my energy
without rescuing me. You really helped me to accept myself - even those
bits which were not very appealing to me at the time. I really
appreciate your power, your generosity, your kindness, your trust, your
awareness, your noticing, your courage, your openness, your honesty,
your professionalism, your attention to detail, your patience, and your
love. Heather, counsellor
